If food is contaminated with harmful foodborne bacteria, pets may develop symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, fever or reduced appetite. Microbiological testing checks for relevant bacteria, adding another check for products pets consume every day.
Excessive intake of arsenic or lead may affect bodily functions, including the digestive tract, nervous system, liver and kidneys. Their levels cannot be judged by sight alone. Laboratory measurement provides actual values, helping owners understand how heavy metal levels in a product have been checked.
Aflatoxins can be produced by mould. Consuming contaminated food may harm a pet's liver, so testing for aflatoxin levels is one part of understanding a product's safety checks.
We understand that owners care about more than a list of test names. They want to know that the products their pets consume every day are carefully checked. That's why Crown Aegis arranges third-party laboratory testing for items such as microorganisms, arsenic, lead and aflatoxins. Veterinary medical and scientific advisers also review the test information, and we provide QPP quality certificates and nutritional analyses. E. coli is a common food safety test item. The report result is below 10 cfu/g, meaning fewer than 10 colony-forming units per gram of the submitted sample. This indicates a low level of E. coli in the tested sample.
Laboratory testing measures the arsenic and lead levels in the tested sample. The current assessment states that the values are well below safety reference levels, giving owners information that the heavy metal levels have been tested and professionally evaluated.
Aflatoxins are toxins that may be produced by mould. The report states that the tested sample result is below the limit used for human food in the European Union, providing a clear reference for owners reviewing the mycotoxin test result.
